Challenge
Oakrun has built bikes to order for twenty years, but their old site only showed a phone number. People who wanted a custom bike had to visit the shop, choose parts from a binder and wait for a quote. Most never made the trip.
Approach
We sat in the shop for two days and wrote down every question customers asked. Then we turned the binder into a configurator: pick a frame, a color, handlebars and wheels, and see the bike change. Each choice shows the price and the build time. We kept the page light so it opens fast on a phone in the shop doorway.
Outcome
The site launched after eleven weeks. Customers now start their build online and finish in the shop with a bike that is already planned. Orders for custom builds rose and the workshop calendar is full through spring.
